degrowth

an installation and sculpture series reflecting on the suburbanization of wildlands. the present works use the results of the increased felling of heritage trees that have been impacted by the current 7-year drought / deluge cycle and the encroachment of suburbia on wildlands.

while drought / deluge cycles are geologic, the impacts on wildlands have increased as climate change and suburbanization have colluded to have significantly greater impact on wildlands where trees are felled at escalating rates to protect property and human life. there is a fundamental conflict, tension, and balance to be explored at the intersection of the preservation of wild lands, environmental impact and the protection of property and life.
